M.L.B. All-Star Game 7-15-08
As we draw closer to this years M.L.B. All-Star game I wanted to take the time to put my two cents in regarding who is worthy of taking the field at Yankee Stadium for this historic date in M.L.B. History. As we all are aware, this will be the final mid-summer classic to ever be played at the most historic sports venue ever, home to many hall of famers and World Series Champions since it opened on April 18, 1923.
Below is a look at whom I, Sportsnut, thinks is deserving this year of starting in this years All-Star game. Mind you, this may vary from the ballots, but lets remember that although the fans vote for the players who start, this is a popularity contest more than it is one of a players merit.
With that said, lets not forget that some players I have listed below, and I admit some are questionable, it just wouldn't be right to see this historic palace closed without a few of the players I listed below.
American League Starters
1B- Justin Morneau
2B- Ian Kinsler
3B- Alex Rodriguez
SS- Derek Jeter
OF- Manny Ramirez
OF- Josh Hamilton
OF- Ichiro Suzuki
C- Joe Mauer
DH- David Ortiz
Starting Pitcher- Daisuke Matsusaka
National League Starters
1B - Lance Berkman
2B- Chase Utley
3B- Chipper Jones
SS- Hanley Ramirez
OF- Kosuke Fukudome
OF- Ryan Braun
OF- Matt Holliday
C- Geovany Soto
DH- (playing in A.L. Park)- Albert Pujols
Starting Pitcher- Brandon Webb
The National League All-Stars will be looking for their 1st win since 1996. The American League has dominated the National League since that time and this may be the year that The National League finally breaks the American Leagues dominance. I predict a high scoring affair and the National League winning this game 9-6. The National league is full of power hitters this year and they will display this in Yankee Stadium on July 15, 2008.
